This is the 2004 Education report for Burma produced by ABSFU. It discusses the current situation concerning education both in central Burma and the border areas. It focuses on difficulties students face, suppression of student rights, lack of facilities and qualified teaching staff, government control over the education system and the curriculum, and university closure.

ABSFU campaigns for student rights, independent student unions, peace and democracy. After the political unrest of 1996 and 1998 some leaders fled from Burma; they formed the Foreign Affairs Committee (FAC) of ABSFU at the Thai-Burma border; since 1998 FAC releases information on, and supports the student movement and the student prisoners in Burma, and maintains relations with international student organisations.
