This is a 1998 report on the Burmese military and sexual violence. It seeks to analyze the underlying causes of rape by Burmese soldiers. It is based on primary research consisting of original interviews with Tatmadaw defectors and Burmese villagers who lived in close proximity to the Tatmadaw.
