This is the Human Rights First homepage. The site provides information about HRF programs including: Asylum in the US, Human Rights Defenders, International Justice and the ICC, International Refugee Policy, US Law and Security, and Workers Rights. The U.S. Asylum Program is committed to advancing the rights of refugees in the United States. To achieve this objective, the Program strives to win asylum for individual refugees through pro bono work, by ensuring access to asylum, by advocating for asylum procedures and by pressing for U.S. compliance with international refugee and human rights law. The Human Rights Defenders program seeks to protect activists working to defend human rights around the world. The International Justice and the ICC program seeks to help lay the foundation for permanent international justice system. The International Refugee Policy program seeks to monitor and contribute to the development of standards relating to refugee protection accorded by national and international institutions and organizations. The Workers Rights program advocates for international worker rights and better working conditions.

Human Rights First is a leading human rights advocacy organization based in New York City and Washington, DC. Since 1978, HRF has worked in the United States and abroad to create a secure and humane world – advancing justice, human dignity, and respect for the rule of law. All of HRF’s activities are supported by private contributions. HRF does not accept government funds.
